Masala bread is a flavorful Indian dish that combines bread with a spiced mixture, often including vegetables and a blend of spices. It’s quick to prepare and makes for a delicious breakfast, snack, or light meal.

Simple recipe for making masala bread:

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or multigrain)
  • 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable, sunflower, or any neutral oil)
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped

    • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Combine Bread and Masala:
    • Add the bread pieces to the pan. Mix well so that the bread pieces are coated with the vegetable masala mixture.
    • Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the bread is slightly crispy.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves.
    • Squeeze a few drops of lemon juice over the top, if using.
    • Serve hot.
