Coffee mousse is a delightful dessert that combines the rich flavor of coffee with the light, airy texture of mousse.

Simple recipe to make coffee mousse:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 packet (about 7 grams) gelatin powder

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Gelatin:
    • In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over 1/4 cup of water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it blooms (absorbs water and becomes spongy).
  2. Dissolve Coffee:
    • In a small saucepan, heat a few tablespoons of cream over low heat. Add instant coffee powder and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Mix Gelatin:
    • Microwave the bloomed gelatin for about 10-15 seconds until it melts and becomes liquid. Stir to ensure there are no lumps.
  4. Whip Cream:
    • In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream and sugar until soft peaks form. Add vanilla extract and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
  5. Combine:
    • Gradually fold the coffee mixture into the whipped cream using a spatula. Be gentle to maintain the fluffy texture. Add the melted gelatin and fold until everything is well combined.
  6. Chill:
    • Divide the mousse mixture into serving glasses or bowls. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.
  7. Serve:
    • Once chilled and set, optionally garnish with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder before serving.
