Here’s a delicious twist on the traditional Indian sweet Mohanthal with the addition of chocolate

Here simple recipe to prepare chocolate Mohanthal recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • 3/4 cup condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • A pinch of saffron (optional)
  • Chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios) for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Besan Base:
    • In a large bowl, combine the gram flour, ghee, and a few spoons of milk to make a crumbly texture. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Make the Sugar Syrup:
    • In a small saucepan, add sugar and the remaining milk. Bring it to a gentle simmer until sugar dissolves completely. Add saffron if using, and set aside.
  3. Cook the Besan Mixture:
    • In a heavy-bottomed pan, add the crumbly gram flour mixture and cook on low heat, stirring continuously until golden brown and aromatic (about 10-12 minutes).
    • Add condensed milk, mix well, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  4. Add Chocolate:
    • Lower the heat and add cocoa powder, chocolate chips, and cardamom powder to the besan mixture. Stir continuously until the chocolate melts and the mixture is smooth.
  5. Combine with Syrup:
    • Gradually add the sugar syrup to the mixture, stirring well. Cook for another 5-6 minutes until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
  6. Set the Mohanthal:
    • Grease a plate or tray with ghee and pour the mixture onto it, spreading evenly. Garnish with chopped nuts.
    • Let it cool and set for 1-2 hours. Cut into squares and serve.
