Ingredients
For the Pasta:
- 200g Penne pasta
- Water (to boil)
- Salt (1 tsp for boiling)
For the Tomato Sauce:
- 3 medium ripe tomatoes (pureed or finely chopped)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 3-4 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1/2 tsp chili flakes
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
- Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Pasta
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add salt and the penne pasta.
- Cook according to the package instructions (usually 8-10 minutes) until al dente.
- Drain the pasta and reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water for the sauce.
Step 2: Make the Tomato Sauce
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
