FIR Filed Against Ali Abbas Zafar as Bhagnani Alleges Fraud in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan
Producer Vashu Bhagnani has accused Bade Miyan Chote Miyan director Ali Abbas Zafar, co-producer Himanshu Mehra, and finance head Ekesh Randive of financial fraud, forgery, and criminal misconduct during the film’s production. He filed an FIR against them on December 8 at Bandra Police Station after receiving a court order on December 2, according to the Free Press Journal.
Bhagnani initially filed a formal complaint in September, where he highlighted severe financial irregularities and contractual violations. The FIR lists several charges under the Indian Penal Code, including criminal conspiracy (Section 120B), criminal breach of trust (Section 406), cheating (Section 420), making a false document (Section 464), forgery for the purpose of cheating (Section 468), using a forged document (Section 471), defamation (Section 500), and criminal intimidation (Section 506).
Bhagnani alleged that the accused inflated the production budget from Rs 125 crore (excluding actor fees) to Rs 154 crore without justification. He also claimed that they forged invoices, overspent on luxury accommodations, rented equipment without approval, and misappropriated funds. He further accused them of forging his signatures and inflating costs to secure additional funds.
After failing to receive police assistance in September, Bhagnani approached the Bandra Court, which directed the police to take action. In response, Zafar reportedly filed a separate complaint against Pooja Entertainment, accusing them of withholding dues, which escalated the legal dispute.
