By Nandamuri Balakrishna in Talks to Replace Shiva Rajkumar in Rajinikanth’s Highly Anticipated ‘Jailer 2’
Following the recent confirmation of a sequel to Rajinikanth’s blockbuster Jailer, titled Jailer 2, there has been much speculation surrounding the cast. One of the highlights of the 2023 release was Shiva Rajkumar’s memorable cameo, which added emotional depth to the film and resonated deeply with audiences. Unfortunately, due to health concerns, Shiva Rajkumar will not reprise his role in the sequel. According to reports from News 18, veteran Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna is in talks to join the cast, bringing his unique style to the film. With Balakrishna’s massive fan base in Tamil Nadu, his inclusion is expected to further elevate the excitement for the much-awaited sequel.
It’s noteworthy that director Nelson Dilipkumar had considered casting Nandamuri Balakrishna for a role in the original Jailer but ultimately did not approach the actor, choosing not to include the role in the final cut.
The success of Jailer, one of Rajinikanth’s biggest blockbusters after 2.0, has left fans eagerly awaiting the sequel. Rajinikanth’s portrayal of a retired police officer was widely praised for its intensity and charisma, reinforcing his legendary status in Indian cinema. Director Nelson Dilipkumar, who faced a setback with Beast, made an impressive comeback with Jailer, which grossed over Rs 650 crore worldwide. The film earned rave reviews for its captivating storyline and star-studded cast, including Tamannaah, Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa Menon, Vinayakan, Vasanth Ravi, Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, and Yogi Babu, making it a complete entertainer.
