The dispute continued after the Assembly passed the resolution on Monday, September 28, amid protests by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators.
BJP Seeks Speaker’s Removal
BJP legislators, led by Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, raised objections to the Speaker’s decision to allow the statehood resolution to proceed. The party questioned the procedure followed in the House and sought action against Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.
