In a tragic incident on Friday morning, Lasya Nandita, one of the youngest Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, lost her life in a road accident on the Outer Ring Road in Patancheru, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.According to Inspector Praveen Reddy of Patancheru, the accident involved Lasya Nandita’s Maruti XL6 car colliding with a road crash barrier. The MLA was seated in the front, and the driver, along with the personal security officer, were the other occupants. Unfortunately, Lasya Nandita succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident, while the driver, found unconscious, and the gunman were reported to be injured. Praveen Reddy mentioned, “We are still awaiting the driver’s recovery to ascertain the details of the accident.”
Lasya Nandita, affiliated with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, entered politics following the passing of her father, Sayaanna, a respected MLA in the Secunderabad cantonment. Sanga Reddy Superintendent of Police, CH Rupesh, revealed that the accident occurred as the MLA was traveling from Basara towards Gatchibowli. Initial investigations suggest the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, resulting in significant damage to the front of the vehicle.The injured were initially taken to a private hospital, where Lasya Nandita was declared deceased. Her body is now being transferred to a Government hospital for a post-mortem examination. The incident marks a somber moment in Telangana politics, with condolences pouring in for the untimely demise of the young legislator.
