Rachin Ravindra and Amelia Kerr Clinch Top Awards at NZC Ceremony
Rachin Ravindra, 24, made history by becoming the youngest player to win the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal at the New Zealand Cricket Awards in Christchurch. Meanwhile, Amelia Kerr secured the Debbie Hockley Medal for the second consecutive year and also claimed the ODI and T20I Player of the Year awards.
Kane Williamson, who recently scored his 32nd Test century, was named Test Player of the Year. Daryl Mitchell received the Men’s ODI Player of the Year award, while Mitchell Santner took home the corresponding T20I award.
Ravindra had a stellar year in international cricket, scoring 578 runs at the 2023 World Cup, matching Kane Williamson’s tally from the 2019 edition. He continued his success in Test cricket with a remarkable 240 against South Africa in the first Test, contributing significantly to New Zealand’s historic Test series win over the Proteas.
Kerr was recognized for her outstanding performance as the leading ODI run-scorer with 541 runs at an average of 67. She also finished as the joint leading wicket-taker in T20Is and the second-highest T20I run-scorer for her team.
