Bangladesh Cricket Board has drafted uncapped Towhid Hridoy into the 15-member squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka, replacing the injured Mushfiqur Rahim. Mushfiqur sustained a right thumb injury during the last of the three ODIs.
Towhid, who debuted in March 2023, has played 30 ODIs and 14 T20Is. He has amassed 913 runs in 14 first-class matches, averaging 48.05, including three centuries and four half-centuries, with a highest score of 217.
The first Test is set to begin on March 23 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, with the series concluding at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on March 30.
Currently, Towhid is participating in the Dhaka Premier League, representing Abahani Limited. An official from the club stated that they are anticipating Towhid’s return after the first Test if he does not make his debut.
