Afzalgunj case: Police make progress in Afzalgunj case with auto driver’s discovery, suspect search continues

Hyderabad: The city police have tracked down the auto rickshaw driver who transported the two individuals responsible for shooting and injuring the manager of a travel agency in Afzalgunj case on Thursday before they fled the scene.

The driver is being questioned by the authorities in an effort to gather any relevant details about the suspects and any conversations he might have overheard. The police believe this information could provide vital leads to help apprehend the criminals.

The two suspects, who are believed to have carried out a heist in Bidar, Karnataka earlier that day, shot and killed two people, including a security guard, before making off with Rs. 93 lakhs.

After committing the robbery in Bidar, the pair fled on a motorcycle, then abandoned it before taking a bus to Hyderabad’s MGBS. Investigations revealed that after arriving in the city, they disembarked at MGBS and purchased tickets for Raipur at Roshan Travels in Afzalgunj case. One of them bought luggage bags, which they filled with the stolen money.

Upon boarding the bus, manager Jahangir noticed the cash in one of the bags and questioned the suspects. In response, one of the suspects drew a pistol and shot him. The duo then ran off, fleeing in an auto rickshaw towards Secunderabad. The police later confirmed the rickshaw stopped at Alpha Hotel in Secunderabad, where the pair got out.

Sources reported that the suspects did not take a train from Secunderabad, but instead boarded another auto rickshaw heading towards Medchal. On the way, they purchased new clothes and bags. The police have reportedly found a trolley bag at Trimulgherry and are investigating whether it belongs to the suspects.

Meanwhile, police teams have been dispatched across the country to gather further information and capture the suspects, who are believed to be from Bihar.
