England pacer Brydon Carse has been handed a 16-month ban, with 13 months suspended for two years. He will be eligible to return to play from August 28, 2024.
According to a statement from Cricket Regulator, an independent regulatory body, Carse was charged with placing 303 bets on various cricket matches between 2017 and 2019. It was clarified that Carse did not place bets on games in which he was participating. The regulatory body proposed the sanction.
Carse will be suspended from playing in any cricket between May 28, 2024, and August 28, 2024. This suspension is contingent on Carse not committing any further offences contrary to the anti-corruption rules over the next two years. If he complies, he will not face any further penalties. The statement also mentioned that there was no evidence to suggest any wider integrity concerns arising from Carse’s actions. This statement was endorsed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
