By Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera has been selected as a replacement for Gus Atkinson by the Kolkata Knight Riders for the IPL 2024 season.
Chameera will join KKR at a reserve price of INR 50 Lakh, according to a statement from the IPL. The fast bowler has previously played for teams like Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 IPL season.
Atkinson, who was picked up by KKR at his base price of INR 1 Crore in the IPL Auction in December 2023, has not previously featured in the IPL. In contrast, Chameera, with a base price of INR 50 Lakh, had gone unsold in the auction.
Chameera had been sidelined due to a shoulder injury last year, but he has recently made a comeback, playing in the IL20 in UAE and representing Sri Lanka against Afghanistan.
