In archery, Deepika Kumari’s quarterfinal defeat marked the end of India’s campaign. She advanced to the women’s recurve quarterfinal by defeating German 7th seed Michelle Kroppen. Despite taking the lead twice, she lost to Korean 2nd seed Nam Suhyeon. Earlier, Bhajan Kaur’s journey also came to an end as she missed a golden opportunity to advance further in the competition.
Looking ahead, one of India’s more impressive boxers in recent times, Nishant Dev, has the chance to end a long wait for India’s second men’s boxing medal. A win in the quarterfinal against Marco Alonso Verde Alvarez would assure him a place on the podium. Additionally, in archery, Bhajan Kaur and Deepika Kumari will resume their individual recurve campaigns from the round of 16 stage.
