Ingredients:
- 500 grams of fish fillets (such as tilapia, cod, or catfish)
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
- Optional: Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
- Optional: Lemon wedges for serving
How to prepare fish fry:
Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Cut the fillets into desired sizes, keeping in mind that smaller pieces will cook faster.
In a shallow dish or bowl, combine the red chili powder, turmeric powder, ground coriander, ground cumin, garam masala, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, and salt to make a marinade.
Coat the fish fillets evenly with the marinade, making sure to cover all sides. Allow the fish to marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator to absorb the flavors.
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
Once the oil is hot, carefully place the marinated fish fillets into the pan, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. You may need to fry the fish in batches depending on the size of your pan.
Fry the fish for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fillets.
Once the fish is cooked, transfer it to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Garnish the fish fry with fresh cilantro leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
Enjoy your homemade fish fry as a delicious appetizer or main course! You can also serve it with your favorite dipping sauce or alongside rice and vegetables for a complete meal.
