Telangana Government Denies Benefit Show Request for Ram Charan’s ‘Game Changer’

The Telangana Government has approved increased ticket prices and additional screenings for the highly anticipated film Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, ahead of its global release on January 10. However, the request for a benefit show at enhanced rates was declined.

Permission has been granted for a sixth show at 4:00 am on the release day, with ticket prices increased. Multiplexes can charge an additional ₹150 (including GST) per ticket, while single-screen theatres are allowed to charge an extra ₹100 (including GST). The producers shared an official statement regarding this on their X handle (formerly Twitter).

From January 11 to 19, theatres are permitted to screen five shows daily. During this period, multiplexes can charge an additional ₹100, and single-screen theatres an extra ₹50 per ticket. Despite these relaxations, the government turned down the request for a benefit show at 1:00 am.

As a condition for these concessions, theatres must screen advertisements to promote awareness about the negative impacts of narcotics, drugs, and cybercrime.

Game Changer is a political action drama marking Ram Charan’s return to the big screen following the global success of RRR alongside SS Rajamouli and Jr NTR in 2022. Directed by S Shankar, the film is based on a story by Karthik Subbaraj, with music by Thaman S. This project marks the Telugu cinema debut of the Indian 2 director. The film also features prominent actors like Anjali, Samuthirakani, SJ Suryah, and Srikanth. Ram Charan is expected to portray three distinct roles: an IAS officer, an IPS officer, and a common man.
