The Congress government has decided to make changes to the official emblem of Telangana. Efforts are underway to modify the emblem to reflect elements such as the people, their lives, democracy, the spirit of the Telangana movement, and the sacrifices of martyrs, as planned by the Revanth government. However, there are widespread rumors that the Charminar and Kakatiya Kalathoranam, which are part of the current emblem, will be removed. This has led to protests from the BRS party.
On Thursday, the BRS is organizing protests across the state to oppose the changes to the Telangana emblem. BRS Working President KTR participated in a protest held at Hyderabad’s Charminar. During the event, KTR accused the Congress government of acting conspiratorially regarding the emblem. He alleged that the government is intentionally changing the state seal to erase any association with Chief Minister KCR. KTR questioned how the Congress could consider removing the historical structures of Charminar and Kakatiya Kalathoranam from the logo, criticizing the changes as politically motivated and foolish decisions.
Earlier, KTR responded on the Ex platform (formerly Twitter) regarding the removal of Charminar from the state emblem. He emphasized that Charminar has been an iconic symbol of Hyderabad for decades, recognized worldwide. He stated that when people think of the city, they inevitably think of Charminar, which has all the qualifications to be a world heritage site. However, he criticized the current Congress government for using flimsy reasons to consider removing Charminar from the official state seal. He wrote that the Congress government is making baseless arguments to justify their decision to remove Charminar from the emblem, and that such a move would be a grave mistake.
KTR’s criticism continued as he highlighted the cultural and historical significance of Charminar and the Kakatiya Kalathoranam. He argued that these landmarks are not just symbols of Telangana’s rich heritage but also serve as sources of pride and identity for the people of the state. By removing these symbols from the emblem, KTR contended, the Congress government is disrespecting the sentiments of the Telangana populace and undermining the state’s historical legacy.
The controversy over the emblem changes has sparked a heated debate in Telangana’s political circles, with various leaders and parties weighing in on the issue. Supporters of the current emblem argue that it represents the historical and cultural essence of Telangana and should not be altered for political reasons. On the other hand, those in favor of the changes claim that the new emblem will better reflect the contemporary aspirations and values of Telangana’s people.
As the debate continues, the BRS has vowed to intensify its protests and mobilize public opinion against the proposed changes. KTR and other BRS leaders have called on the people of Telangana to join the protests and voice their opposition to what they describe as an unjust and politically motivated alteration of the state’s official symbol.
