India and Pakistan to Face Off in Lahore for 2025 Champions Trophy

India and Pakistan to Face Off in Lahore for 2025 Champions Trophy

After a highly charged and intensely fought match in New York on Sunday, India and Pakistan’s next big clash is approaching. The arch-rivals are expected to meet again in eight months, during the Champions Trophy in March 2025, unless the two teams face each other in the knockouts of the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup in the Caribbean later this month.

Cricbuzz can reveal that the draft schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy has been submitted to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The India-Pakistan game is set to be the last of the league matches in the eight-team, 15-match competition, which, as reported by Cricbuzz earlier on Sunday, will take place between February 19 and March 9. The dates of the matches are still being finalized.

According to the proposed schedule, Lahore is the venue for the match. This plan requires approval from the Government of India to play in Pakistan. If this approval is not granted, the tournament may adopt a hybrid model, similar to the one used for last year’s Asia Cup, with the UAE as the venue for India’s games. However, the PCB has been advised to proceed with its preparations.

Lahore to Host Exciting India-Pakistan Showdown at 2025 Champions Trophy

The PCB has identified Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi as venues for the 20-day competition, with Lahore designated as the center for India games. According to the program, seven matches will take place in Lahore, five in Rawalpindi, and three in Karachi.

Karachi is scheduled to host the opening match on February 19, a Wednesday. The two semifinals will be held in Karachi and Rawalpindi. According to the proposed program, the final on March 9, a Sunday, will be in Lahore, which has also been allotted all India games, including the semifinal if they qualify.

At this stage, neither the PCB nor the ICC is considering a hybrid model. However, the situation could change at the last minute. All eyes are now on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Government of India.
