Mahesh Babu and director SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited film, SSMB29, has officially begun production, following a traditional pooja ceremony to launch the project. Fans are already buzzing with excitement, especially after reports that Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been cast as the female lead. Recently, Priyanka was spotted arriving in Hyderabad, fueling speculation that she is gearing up to shoot for the movie. A video shared by paparazzi showing her casual airport look—an all-brown hoodie ensemble paired with a bright yellow baseball cap—quickly went viral on social media. However, there has been no official confirmation about her involvement in the shoot yet.
According to Pinkvilla, SSMB29 is a grand-scale global adventure set in exotic locations. Mahesh Babu is set to play a character inspired by the Hindu god Hanuman, while Priyanka Chopra will star opposite him. Sources reveal that discussions between Priyanka and Rajamouli have been ongoing for six months, leading to her return to Indian cinema after a five-year break.
The film is expected to be a two-part venture with a staggering budget of ₹900–1,000 crores. Filming is scheduled to begin in April 2025 and continue until late 2026, with the first and second parts anticipated to release in 2027 and 2029, respectively. Mahesh Babu, who is coming off the underwhelming box-office performance of Guntur Kaaram directed by Trivikram Srinivas, has been spotted sporting a rugged new look with long hair and a beard, adding to fans’ anticipation for the upcoming project.
