Simple recipe for Makhana Chaat, a healthy and tasty snack:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups makhana (fox nuts)
  • 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 small cucumber, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
  • Pomegranate seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil or ghee in a pan and roast the makhana on low-medium heat until crispy and light golden. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Let them cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the roasted makhana with chopped onions, tomatoes, cucumber, and green chili.
  3. Sprinkle chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Drizzle lemon juice over the mixture and toss gently.
