Milk Barfi is a delicious Indian sweet made from milk powder, condensed milk, and aromatic spices, cooked to perfection until it reaches a rich, fudgy consistency.
Preparation of Milk Barfi:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups full-fat milk powder
- 1 cup condensed milk
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
- Chopped nuts for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Heat a non-stick pan on medium heat and add the ghee to it. Allow the ghee to melt completely.
- Once the ghee is melted, add the milk powder to the pan. Stir continuously to roast the milk powder evenly. Roast for about 5-6 minutes until it turns light golden brown in color and gives off a nutty aroma.
- Add the condensed milk to the pan and mix well with the roasted milk powder. Stir continuously to combine the ingredients thoroughly.
- Next, add the milk to the pan and mix well to form a smooth mixture. Continue cooking the mixture on medium-low heat, stirring continuously to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- Cook the mixture for about 8-10 minutes until it thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan. Add the cardamom powder and mix well to incorporate the flavor.
- Once the mixture reaches a thick, dough-like consistency, remove it from the heat and transfer it to a greased plate or tray.
- Using a spatula or the back of a spoon, spread the mixture evenly on the plate, smoothing out the surface.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts over the surface of the mixture if desired, gently pressing them into the barfi.
- Allow the barfi to cool completely at room temperature for about 1-2 hours, then refrigerate for another 2-3 hours to set.
- Once set, cut the Milk Barfi into desired shapes using a sharp knife. Serve and enjoy!
