Milk Barfi Recipe

Milk Barfi is a delicious Indian sweet made from milk powder, condensed milk, and aromatic spices, cooked to perfection until it reaches a rich, fudgy consistency.

Preparation of Milk Barfi:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups full-fat milk powder
  • 1 cup condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
  • Chopped nuts for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat a non-stick pan on medium heat and add the ghee to it. Allow the ghee to melt completely.
  2. Once the ghee is melted, add the milk powder to the pan. Stir continuously to roast the milk powder evenly. Roast for about 5-6 minutes until it turns light golden brown in color and gives off a nutty aroma.
  3. Add the condensed milk to the pan and mix well with the roasted milk powder. Stir continuously to combine the ingredients thoroughly.
  4. Next, add the milk to the pan and mix well to form a smooth mixture. Continue cooking the mixture on medium-low heat, stirring continuously to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  5. Cook the mixture for about 8-10 minutes until it thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan. Add the cardamom powder and mix well to incorporate the flavor.
  6. Once the mixture reaches a thick, dough-like consistency, remove it from the heat and transfer it to a greased plate or tray.
  7. Using a spatula or the back of a spoon, spread the mixture evenly on the plate, smoothing out the surface.
  8. Sprinkle chopped nuts over the surface of the mixture if desired, gently pressing them into the barfi.
  9. Allow the barfi to cool completely at room temperature for about 1-2 hours, then refrigerate for another 2-3 hours to set.
  10. Once set, cut the Milk Barfi into desired shapes using a sharp knife. Serve and enjoy!
