Mohammad Amir Ends Retirement for T20 World Cup Comeback

Mohammad Amir, the fast bowler, made an announcement on Sunday. He decided to end his retirement with the hope of playing in this year’s T20 World Cup in the US and West Indies in June. Mohammad Amir had previously retired from international cricket at the end of 2020. His decision follows the PCB’s announcement of a new seven-member selection panel. This panel includes four former Test cricketers.

“I still dream of playing for Pakistan!,” Amir posted on X (formerly Twitter). “At times, life makes us reconsider our decisions. I have had a few positive talks with the PCB. They made me feel needed and capable of playing for Pakistan again. After talking to my family and well-wishers, I am making myself available for the upcoming T20 WC,” he declared.

“I am doing this for my country as it comes before my personal decisions. Wearing the green jersey and serving my country has always been my greatest aspiration. It will continue to be so,” he added.

Mohammad Amir Comes Out of Retirement

Amir first made a name for himself on the international stage at 17. He has played 50 T20Is since his debut in 2009, taking 59 wickets at an economy rate of 7.02. His latest T20 performances were in this year’s PSL, where he claimed 10 wickets in 9 matches for Quetta Gladiators.

The cricket community has reacted positively to Amir’s comeback, anticipating his potential impact at the T20 World Cup. His experience and skill could greatly bolster Pakistan’s bowling lineup. Fans and experts alike are eager to see if Amir can replicate his past performances on the international stage. His return is seen as a boost for the team, especially in a tournament as significant as the T20 World Cup. Amir’s decision underscores his commitment to cricket and his country, marking an exciting chapter in his career.
