Mufasa: The Lion King Smashes Rs 120 Crore on New Year, Poised to Surpass ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’
Mufasa: The Lion King continues its strong run at the Indian box office. Shah Rukh Khan voices the titular character in the Hindi version. On its 13th day, the film earned an estimated ₹9.40 crore net across all languages. Its total earnings now stand at an impressive ₹122.1 crore.
The film had a stellar opening weekend, collecting ₹74.25 crore by the end of Week 1. It crossed the ₹100 crore mark by its second weekend. This pushed it past Godzilla x Kong to become the second highest-grossing Hollywood release in India for 2024.
The Hindi version performed the strongest, fueled by Shah Rukh Khan’s star power. It added ₹3.5 crore on Wednesday. The English original earned ₹2.5 crore, while the Tamil version brought in ₹2.25 crore. The Telugu dubbed version also grew steadily, earning ₹0.15 crore.
With a remarkable 56.67% growth on Wednesday, Mufasa: The Lion King is set to overtake Deadpool and Wolverine. The superhero film, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, grossed ₹126.41 crore by its third week.
As the numbers rise, Mufasa: The Lion King secures its place among the most successful Hollywood films in India. This mirrors the success of the 2019 film The Lion King, which surpassed the ₹150 crore mark at the domestic box office.
