Madras High Court Orders Nayanthara to Respond to Dhanush’s Civil Suit
The dispute between Nayanthara and Dhanush over the use of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan footage in the documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale has escalated, with Dhanush filing a civil suit against the Jawan actress. According to Bollywood Hungama, the Madras High Court has asked Nayanthara to respond to the suit in the next hearing.
The lawsuit not only names Nayanthara and her husband, Vignesh Shivan, but also their production company. In addition, Dhanush’s legal team has reportedly sought permission to file another suit against Netflix affiliates based in Mumbai. The conflict began when Dhanush refused to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the use of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan footage in the documentary.
In response, Nayanthara addressed the matter on social media with an open letter, stating:
“Dear Mr. Dhanush K Raja, S/o Kasthoori Raja, B/o Selvaraghavan,
This is an open letter to set the record straight. As a well-established actor with the support of your father and brother, an acclaimed director, I believe it is essential for you to reflect on this matter.
For self-made individuals like me, with no industry connections, the journey in cinema is a fight for survival. I’ve reached where I am today through hard work and the goodwill of my audience and peers. The release of my Netflix documentary has been eagerly awaited not just by me, but also by my fans and well-wishers.
This project represents the collective effort of a dedicated team who overcame numerous challenges. Your ongoing opposition affects not just my partner and me, but everyone involved in this endeavor. Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale captures memories from various films and includes contributions from many industry well-wishers. However, it’s unfortunate that it could not feature one of the most significant films in my career, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.”
