Paneer Tikka is a popular Indian appetizer made with marinated paneer (Indian cottage cheese) that’s grilled or baked to perfection. It is a delicious vegetarian dish, often served with mint chutney and garnished with lemon and onions.
Here how to prepare panner tikka:
Ingredients:
- 250g Paneer (cut into cubes)
- 1 cup thick yogurt (curd)
- 1 tablespoon gram flour (besan)
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 onion (cut into square pieces)
- 1 capsicum (cut into square pieces)
- Skewers (if grilling)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Marinade:
In a mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, gram flour, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Whisk everything together until smooth. - Marinate the Paneer:
Add the paneer cubes, onion, and capsicum to the marinade and mix gently until everything is coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour for the flavors to blend well. - Grilling or Baking:
- Grilling: Thread the marinated paneer, onion, and capsicum onto skewers. Grill them on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally until the paneer is golden and charred around the edges.
- Baking: Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Place the marinated paneer and vegetables on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
- Serving:
Serve the hot paneer tikka with mint chutney, a wedge of lemon, and onion rings.
