Seales and Holder back in WI squad for England Tests

Uncapped opening batter Mikyle Louis has been called up by West Indies for their upcoming three-Test tour of England in July.

The 15-man squad, which will be led by Kraigg Brathwaite with Alzarri Joseph as his deputy, includes Jayden Seales, who missed the last series against Australia due to injury. Also returning to the squad is Jason Holder, who had made himself unavailable for the last tour.

Louis, a 23-year-old who has previously represented the U19 side, has been selected based on his impressive performances in his debut First-Class season. He scored 682 runs for the Leeward Island Hurricanes at an average of 48.71.

The squad comprises Kraigg Brathwaite (Captain), Alick Athanaze, Joshua Da Silva, Jason Holder, Kavem Hodge, Tevin Imlach, Alzarri Joseph (Vice-Captain), Shamar Joseph, Mikyle Louis, Zachary McCaskie, Kirk McKenzie, Gudakesh Motie, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Kevin Sinclair. Isai Thorne, a 19-year-old fast bowler, will travel with the squad as a development player after an impressive debut First-Class season, taking 31 wickets at an average of 16.29 across eight matches.

Desmond Haynes, CWI lead selector, stated, “The squad has been shaped with both experience and emerging talent, ensuring a strong balance as we face the challenge of playing in English conditions.” He added, “Over the past year, our red-ball program has continued to develop. Following our victory in the last Test in Australia in January, it is evident that we are seeing the fruits of that investment. Each player selected has earned their place through consistent performances and hard work. We are confident that this blend of seasoned players and emerging faces will perform admirably against England.”

The Richards-Botham Trophy will commence at Lord’s on July 10.
