“Sensex Bounces Back, Trailing by 150 Points; BSE SmallCap Drops 2%”

STOCK MARKET UPDATES : Stock indices gave up their initial gains and turned negative on Monday, mirroring subdued trading across most Asian markets closed for the Lunar New Year. The BSE Sensex experienced a decline of 150 points, settling at 71,442, while the NSE Nifty50 dropped 53 points to reach 21,726.

Leading the gainers on the Sensex were Wipro, HCLTech, Infosys, Tech M, and TCS, with Dr Reddy’s and Divi’s Labs emerging as additional winners on the Nifty.

Conversely, Power Grid, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Hero Moto, ONGC, and Coal India were among the top frontline losers.

The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices saw increases of up to 0.27 percent.

In other market developments, Gensol Engineering witnessed a 5 percent surge as its consortium with Matrix Gas secured the PLI scheme bid for hydrogen electrolyser manufacturing.

Shares of Honasa Consumer, the owner of Mamaearth, experienced a 9 percent spike before trimming gains. This surge followed a 265 percent year-on-year increase in Q3 profit to Rs 26 crore.
