BJP and Congress are taking strategic steps to strengthen their political presence in Andhra Pradesh. BJP aims to grow by focusing on membership drives, programs, and public issues, promoting the benefits offered by the central government. Meanwhile, Congress is working towards a revival by addressing public issues and recalling past schemes.
The two national parties, BJP and Congress, have shifted their focus to Andhra Pradesh, aiming to strengthen their presence in the state. Alongside expanding their cadre, they are developing new leaders. BJP is working for party growth, while Congress is striving for revival. In Telangana, both parties have gained momentum, with Congress gaining power and BJP winning more seats than before. However, in Andhra Pradesh, their situation isn’t as strong. Although BJP is part of the coalition government, it lacks its own base, and Congress is similarly struggling, with leaders being inactive, leading to a fragmented cadre. Now, both parties are strategically advancing to enhance their presence in the state.
BJP’s local leadership is working hard to strengthen the party in Andhra Pradesh, launching an ambitious membership drive targeting 2.5 million members. State BJP Chief Purandeswari has been conducting workshops, with the membership drive actively progressing for 45 days and set to continue until November 15. The BJP High Command has instructed local leaders to highlight the support and funds provided by the central government for Andhra Pradesh in every meeting, aiming for a stronger presence by the next general election.
On the other hand, the Congress High Command is also working to bring back the party’s influence in Andhra Pradesh. Though strong leaders exist, they remain inactive, placing the responsibility on PCC Chief Sharmila. She is striving to strengthen the party at district and mandal levels through membership drives, meetings, and public events. Sharmila openly criticizes the coalition government’s policies and vows to oppose decisions that burden the common people, such as increased electricity tariffs. She also recalls past welfare schemes introduced by Congress for the poor, aiming to reconnect with the public. It remains to be seen how much ground these national parties will gain in Andhra Pradesh by the next general elections.
