The Tamil political sports drama, ‘Lal Salaam,’ saw its theatrical release on February 9, garnering a total box office collection of Rs 15.7 crore within the initial 10 days. Despite the significant hype surrounding the movie, it fell short of expectations, leaving fans somewhat disappointed. Directed by Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, the film features Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in pivotal roles, with a notable cameo by Rajinikanth. The musical score for the film is crafted by the renowned AR Rahman.
As the film’s theatrical occupancy experiences a decline, the producers are gearing up for its digital premiere scheduled for the first week of March. According to reports from News18, ‘Lal Salaam’ will be available for streaming on Netflix and Sun Pictures’ digital platform, SunNxt, starting March, pending an official announcement.
‘Lal Salaam’ delves into the complex dynamics between Hindus and Muslims, sparking societal controversies by fueling anti-social elements. While the film conveys a significant social message and explores the backdrop of sports, it received mixed responses from the audience, failing to generate substantial interest.
In addition to its release in Tamil Nadu, ‘Lal Salaam’ had a simultaneous release in Telugu in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The film encountered challenges in the Telugu states, with several show cancellations, while its performance in Tamil Nadu was relatively better.
