Title: HIT 3 – The Invisible Thread

Every killer leaves a mark… unless he’s one of us HIT 3.

Story:

The Homicide Intervention Team (HIT 3) is back, but this time, the lines between justice and crime blur like never before.

Prologue:

Three years after Vikram Rudraraju exposed the chilling secrets behind Preethi’s disappearance, the Hyderabad branch of HIT has earned a reputation for being the best at solving the most complex and gruesome crimes. However, peace is short-lived.

A murder occurs in a remote farmhouse on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The victim: Dr. Kavitha Rao, a respected criminal psychologist who worked as a consultant with law enforcement. Her body is found arranged in a ritualistic manner — wrists bound, eyes wide open, and a cryptic phrase carved into her chest: “Only the guilty sleep easy.”

Vikram is now the Joint Director of HIT and assigns the case to a young, brilliant officer, Rishi Varma, known for his aggressive instincts and photographic memory. What starts as a simple murder case soon spirals into something darker and deeply personal.

Chapter 1: Shadows of the Mind

Rishi begins the investigation by looking into Dr. Kavitha’s past clients. He discovers she had recently interviewed convicts at Chanchalguda Jail and was researching the psychological profiles of serial killers. Her last file, however, is missing.

Rishi interviews Kavitha’s assistant, Maya, who shares a detail that chills him: Kavitha had recently expressed fear that someone was watching her — not an outsider, but someone within HIT.

Chapter 2: The Second Mark

Before Rishi can act on this lead, a second murder occurs. This time it’s ACP Surya Prakash, Rishi’s mentor and Vikram’s close friend. His body is discovered in a locked room, with the same phrase carved onto his torso. The killer left behind a page torn from a psychological evaluation report — Subject #53: Extreme narcissist with manipulative tendencies.

The team is rattled. How is the killer gaining access to high-level officers? Why target people within the justice system?

Vikram calls a meeting with the HIT’s core members. Suspicion grows, and trust within the department begins to crumble.

Chapter 3: The Invisible Thread

Rishi connects the dots: both victims were part of a closed-door operation five years ago — a classified case known as Project Samrakshana, where suspected juveniles involved in heinous crimes were secretly rehabilitated rather than prosecuted.

Digging deeper, Rishi finds something terrifying — Subject #53 from Kavitha’s missing report is Arjun Dev, a child genius-turned-murderer who was released after “successful rehabilitation.” No photos, no fingerprints in the system, but his IQ was off the charts and his ability to mimic emotions made him indistinguishable from normal people.

Could Arjun have infiltrated HIT?

Chapter 4: Hunter in Disguise

Rishi receives a cryptic call from an anonymous number: “You’re solving this the wrong way. You’re trying to find a killer outside. Start looking at the mirror.”

Security footage from HIT headquarters shows doctored time stamps. Someone is tampering with evidence.

As paranoia spreads, Rishi starts suspecting Maya, Kavitha’s assistant, but soon discovers she is actually Arjun’s twin sister. She confesses that she’s been trying to stop Arjun ever since he escaped her watch three years ago. She believed Kavitha could help reach him.

Before Rishi can process this, Vikram goes missing.

Chapter 5: The Final Puzzle

A hidden audio file is discovered in Kavitha’s office. In it, Arjun describes in chilling detail how he plans to “cleanse the system” by targeting those who compromise justice for personal gain. His voice is calm, calculated, and horrifyingly confident.

Rishi, using his memory and deductive skills, pieces together Arjun’s likely hideout — a now-defunct juvenile center that was part of Project Samrakshana.

Rishi and Maya reach the location, only to walk into a trap. Arjun is there, waiting.

Climax: Justice is a Knife’s Edge

Tied to a chair, Vikram is drugged but alive. Arjun begins a philosophical debate with Rishi, explaining how each of his victims were hypocrites — people who pretended to uphold justice but bent the rules for convenience.

He challenges Rishi to prove that he is different. “Shoot me, and you kill a murderer. Let me go, and you become the next name on my list.”

Rishi calmly responds, “You think you’ve studied all our minds. But you forgot to study your own.”

He reveals that Maya had been wearing a wire the entire time and that the call was being live-streamed to the HIT command center. Backup is already on the way.

In a final scuffle, Arjun tries to inject Rishi with a paralytic drug, but Maya intervenes and is stabbed. Rishi subdues Arjun but refuses to kill him. Instead, he records Arjun’s confession and arrests him.

Epilogue:

Maya survives. Vikram recovers and steps down temporarily, naming Rishi the acting head of HIT. The department begins a new policy of psychological screenings for all personnel.

Arjun is kept in a high-security psychiatric prison, where he remains silent — except for one cryptic message written on his cell wall: “I’m not alone.”

As Rishi looks out over the city from HIT headquarters, he knows the war isn’t over.
