In New York’s Nassau County area on Wednesday afternoon, the India”s team had a three-hour net session, which marked their first formal and full-fledged practice since arriving in the city on May 26. Before this, a brief running and conditioning session was conducted on Tuesday evening. All players, except Virat Kohli, attended the Wednesday afternoon session, with Kohli expected to arrive a little later.
The net session took place at Cantiague Park, situated over five miles away from the Nassau County Stadium, where the team will play three games in the Twenty20 World Cup, as well as a warm-up game against Bangladesh on June 1. Cantiague Park, the official training facility designated by the International Cricket Council (ICC), features six drop-in practice pitches.
During the session, the Indian team had access to three pitches, with two being used for the batters and the third reserved for the bowlers. The batting nets were initiated by Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, followed by the remaining players in the order of their batting.

Among those who batted were Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal were advised to take it easy for the day, as they had only joined the team on Tuesday after a long flight. Despite this, all four players were present at Cantiague Park and will participate in the next net session scheduled for Friday.
Despite rain in some parts of the neighboring areas of New York, the weather at the ground was extremely cricket-friendly. With pleasant conditions and a day temperature of around 18 degrees Celsius, the session proceeded smoothly.
To avoid long travel times and traffic signals, the Indian team is staying in Long Island instead of Manhattan.
