Dhirajlal Shah, a trailblazer in the video-cable TV industry and producer of numerous Bollywood films, passed away on March 11. His brother, Hasmukh, revealed that Dhirajlal had been receiving medical treatment in a Mumbai hospital and succumbed to his ailments early Monday morning. Hasmukh explained, “He contracted Covid, after which he faced complications with his lungs. Over the last 20 days, his condition worsened, necessitating ICU admission. Eventually, his kidneys and heart were compromised, leading to multi-organ failure.”
Dhirajlal Shah was instrumental in producing all the successful movies in the Akshay Kumar-led Khiladi series and supported the Ajay Devgn starer ‘Vijaypath’. Additionally, he produced Anil Sharma’s ‘The Hero: Love Story of a Spy’, featuring Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, and Priyanka Chopra. Mourning Dhirajlal Shah’s passing, Anil Sharma remarked, “He wasn’t just an exceptional producer but also a wonderfully kind soul. He revolutionized the video industry in many ways. His absence will be deeply felt.” Producer Harish Sughand commented, “His acquisition of the video rights for ‘Shahenshah’ marked a turning point in his career, earning him the moniker of the video king. He owned the rights to nearly all the films.”
