What’s New in Apple’s Chess Game on macOS Sequoia
Apple’s Chess game, which began with NeXTSTEP—the precursor to Mac OS X—was later adapted for subsequent versions of the operating system. The last update, in 2012 with OS X Mountain Lion, introduced Game Center integration and made minor graphical enhancements.
Enhanced Graphics and Updated Features in macOS Sequoia Chess Game
With macOS Sequoia, the Chess game has undergone a graphical overhaul. The glossy background has been replaced with a grainy gradient, and the board and pieces now boast brighter, more realistic textures.
However, the new version reduces the style choices from four to three: Wood, Marble, and Metal, removing the Grass option. Additionally, the ability to select different styles for the board and pieces separately has been eliminated.
The updated version will be available to all users when macOS Sequoia is publicly released later this year.
