Apple has given users an extended window of 30 days after the expiration of their original AppleCare+ plan to renew coverage. In August, the Cupertino-based tech giant extended this period to 45 days. According to a support document, Apple confirmed that customers now have 45 days to enroll in a new AppleCare+ plan after their current coverage lapses. The company also highlighted that users can choose to extend their plans for 24 or 36 months, or opt for monthly or annual renewals until the plan is canceled.
AppleCare+ Coverage Extension: Eligibility and Regional Guidelines
In a support document, Apple outlined that users in countries such as Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, and the US are eligible to extend their AppleCare+ coverage for up to 45 days. Apple also detailed the eligibility criteria for extending AppleCare+ coverage for each product:
- If you initially paid upfront for an AppleCare+ plan for your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, you may be eligible to purchase new coverage that renews either monthly or annually.
- If you paid upfront for an AppleCare+ plan for your Mac, you might be eligible to buy new coverage that renews annually.
Users can verify their eligibility for new coverage by visiting the mysupport.apple.com website and following the provided instructions. The new coverage will automatically renew until canceled.
In China, users who paid upfront for 12, 24, or 36 months of coverage for their iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch may be able to continue coverage on an annual basis after the initial service period ends. If enrolled in an annual plan, the coverage will automatically renew each year until canceled.
To check eligibility, users should navigate to Settings > General > About within 30 days of their coverage end date. Then, tap on “AppleCare+ Coverage Available” and follow the on-screen instructions.
