Baby John Advance Box Office: Varun Dhawan’s Film Targets Rs 15 Crore Opening on Christmas Day
After his spy thriller Citadel released on OTT, Varun Dhawan will return to the big screen in Baby John, a mass entertainer. Atlee (director of Jawan) and Murad Khetani produced the film, while Kalees directed it. The movie carries the high-energy vibe typical of south Indian mass entertainers, as shown in the trailer. Varun Dhawan stars in the film alongside Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi.
The team will release Baby John in around 3,000 screens across the country, but the makers will face a challenge in securing prime showtimes. Pushpa 2 continues to perform strongly at the box office. The weekend shows sell out, and the weekday occupancy remains steady at 60-70%. With Pushpa 2 still drawing large audiences, theatres may hesitate to adjust their schedules. Additionally, since Baby John will release during the holiday season, the makers of Pushpa 2 will likely avoid reducing the number of shows to protect their revenue during this peak period.
PVR Inox and the distributors paused advance bookings for Pushpa 2 briefly due to ongoing negotiations, but they resumed bookings afterward. The parties will finalize show allocations over the weekend. Baby John plans to sell around 80,000 tickets through national cinema chains, which should lead to an opening day collection of approximately Rs 15 crore on Christmas Day. The post-Christmas period, leading up to the New Year, will be crucial for both films, as the holiday season typically draws large audiences to theaters.
