The cabinet decided to implement the promises made during the elections and develop a plan that paves the way for progress. The newly convened cabinet in Andhra Pradesh held an extended meeting today, approving several key decisions. The cabinet approved the Mega DSC notification and repealed the Land Titling Act. It also gave the green light to increase pensions and decided to distribute the amounts to 6.6 million people through secretariat staff. However, no decision was made regarding volunteers.
Major Decisions:
- Pension Increase:
- The cabinet decided to increase pensions, emphasizing the government’s commitment to key welfare schemes.
- An additional ₹10,000 crore will be spent on various pensions, affecting approximately 6.4 million people.
- The government will bear an additional ₹819 crore per month due to this increase. The cabinet also approved the release of ₹1650 crore for three months of backlogged pensions, with ₹4408 crore to be deposited in poor beneficiaries’ accounts on July 1.
- Repeal of Land Titling Act:
- The cabinet supported repealing the Land Titling Act, which had a significant impact in the last elections.
- This decision aligns with one of the five commitments made by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on his first day in office.
- Skill Senses Initiative:
- The cabinet decided to focus on reducing unemployment by implementing the Skill Senses program to instill confidence in the youth.
- A sub-committee of five ministers will address the issue of eradicating marijuana use in the state.
- White Papers on Key Departments:
- From July 31, the cabinet will release white papers on seven departments: Polavaram, Amaravati, Electricity, Land-Sand, Liquor, Law and Order, and Finance.
- The first white paper will focus on the Polavaram project, detailing expenses and funds to inform the public about the previous administration’s actions.
- Development of Amaravati:
- Following Polavaram, the cabinet will focus on Amaravati, which faced neglect post-2019.
- A white paper will be released to detail the current status and plans for developing the capital.
- Action Plan on Drugs:
- The cabinet discussed measures to combat drugs, proposing an action plan to eradicate drug use within 100 days.
- Launch of Anna Canteens:
- The cabinet approved the launch of 183 Anna canteens across the state.
- Ministers will now have district-wise in-charge responsibilities to further government objectives.
