The central government has announced good news for vehicle owners by deciding to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel nationwide. Official announcements have been made to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs. 2. Union Minister Harjit Singh Puri shared this information through his Twitter account. The reduced prices will be effective from 6 AM onwards this Friday. Explaining the actions taken to address rising fuel prices in the country, the central government has indicated that petrol and diesel prices have been reduced by 50 to 72 paise globally. However, in India, the reduction in fuel prices over the past two weeks has been 4.65%. In response to the needs of Indian citizens, the government has decided to procure fuel from 27 countries, expanding from the previous 39 countries. As of March 14, 2024, the price of petrol per liter is Rs. 94 in India, whereas in Italy, it is Rs. 168.01 (converted to Indian currency), which is 79% higher. Similarly, in France, it is Rs. 166.87, 78% higher, in Germany, it is Rs. 159.57, 70% higher, and in Spain, it is Rs. 145.13, which is 54% higher than in India.” Regarding diesel prices, the current rate in India is Rs. 87 per liter, while in Italy, it is Rs. 163.21, in France, it is Rs. 161.57, in Germany, it is Rs. 155.68, and in Spain, it is Rs. 138.05.
