The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are set to clash at an upcoming ICC meeting in Colombo regarding the Champions Trophy. India is expected to announce its inability to tour Pakistan for the tournament due to lack of government clearance. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will attend the ICC meetings from July 19-22, including the Annual General Meeting on July 22.

Although the AGM agenda doesn’t list the issue for discussion, it’s anticipated to be raised under ‘any other business’. The Champions Trophy is scheduled from February 19 to March 9, with India slated to play matches in Lahore. If India declines to tour Pakistan, the ICC might consider alternate venues like UAE or Sri Lanka. The situation could lead to a strong reaction from PCB.
Additionally, Shah may also witness the India vs Pakistan Women’s Asia Cup match in Dambulla on Friday.
Meanwhile, the suspense over who will be India’s next T20 captain—Hardik Pandya or Suryakumar Yadav—continues, with the Indian team likely to be selected on Thursday. In an online meeting on Tuesday, new head coach Gautam Gambhir and the selectors discussed various aspects of Indian cricket, including the potential consideration of giving regular T20 captaincy to Surya, the world’s second-ranked T20 batsman, as reported earlier. However, a final decision on the matter is yet to be made.
