Fans eagerly anticipated the release of Dacoit: A Love Story, starring Adivi Sesh, especially after the makers dropped a captivating teaser featuring Adivi and Shruti Haasan. However, following reports of Shruti’s exit from the Dacoit project, Adivi took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share a new poster, hinting that Mrunal Thakur had stepped into the role.
The poster, which strategically hides the female lead’s face behind Adivi’s hands and a vehicle, didn’t stop fans from identifying her as Mrunal Thakur. The image depicts a gripping scene where Mrunal holds a gun while Adivi shields her, set against a war-ravaged, fiery backdrop. Adding intrigue, Adivi captioned the post with, “I protected her… But she left me… You will know her true nature tomorrow at 11:30 AM.”
Earlier this year, Shruti Haasan had shared behind-the-scenes clips and dubbing sessions with Adivi from the film. However, reports from CineJosh revealed that Shruti’s departure stemmed from creative differences with the makers, despite her nearly completing the project. There were also rumors suggesting that Shruti left due to Adivi’s alleged excessive control over the filmmaking process.
Mrunal Thakur, who was last seen in Family Star opposite Vijay Deverakonda, is reportedly in discussions for a new collaboration with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Meanwhile, Shruti Haasan has moved on to her next major project, Coolie, where she stars alongside superstar Rajinikanth. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film features an ensemble cast, including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir.
