Election campaigning will conclude this evening. Prominent leaders from all political parties have entered the fray for the final phase, making last-ditch efforts to attract voters by reaching out to the public. In this final phase, polling will be conducted for 57 seats across 8 states. These include 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Punjab, 9 in West Bengal, 8 in Bihar, 6 in Odisha, 4 in Himachal Pradesh, 3 in Jharkhand, and 1 seat in Chandigarh. Notably, the final phase includes polling in the Varanasi constituency, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is contesting.
In Punjab’s Hoshiarpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold his final public meeting, participating in a massive “Fateh Rally” at 11 AM. Simultaneously, Congress star campaigner Rahul Gandhi will campaign in Balasore district, Odisha. Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi will conduct a roadshow on Mall Road in Solan at 1 PM in support of Congress candidate Vinod Sultanpuri from the Shimla parliamentary constituency. SP leader Akhilesh Yadav will speak
at a rally in Maharajganj in support of INDIA Alliance candidate Virendra Chaudhary. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will campaign in Punjab.
Key Contenders in the Final Phase
In the final phase, 904 candidates are in the fray. Much attention is focused on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contest for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, where he is running for a third time. Notably, BJP’s film actress Kangana Ranaut and Congress’s Vikramaditya Singh are contesting from Mandi. In Gorakhpur, BJP candidate Ravi Kishan faces off against Samajwadi Party candidate Kajal Nishad. Anurag Thakur from BJP and Satyapal Singh Raizada from Congress are contesting in Hamirpur. In Diamond Harbour, TMC candidate Abhishek Banerjee is up against BJP’s Abhijit Das.
The BJP has declared that the NDA alliance will secure victories in over 400 seats, asserting that Prime Minister Modi is set to become PM for a third term. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi of the INDIA Alliance claims that the public sentiment has shifted and that the INDIA Alliance will form the government.
Prime Minister Modi to Visit Kanyakumari
After concluding the final phase of campaigning today, Prime Minister Modi will visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. He will visit the Bhagavathi Amman Temple for prayers and watch the sunset in Kanyakumari this evening. The Prime Minister will meditate at the Dhyana Mandapam. Tight security arrangements have been made for his visit, with restrictions on visitor entry and the deployment of 2,000 police personnel. On June 1, the Prime Minister will visit the statue of the great poet Thiruvalluvar and lay a floral wreath.
