By Charging PM Narendra Modi with spearheading the BJP’s endeavor to “sectarianize the electoral contest,” Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has dispatched a unique directive to party officials, advising them to remain vigilant against being diverted by such concerns and to uphold the campaign’s emphasis on “nyay” pledges for diverse societal factions. Furthermore, he has conveyed to party members that both the PM and BJP are conscious that the Election Commission will refrain from taking action against them for instigating individuals on grounds of religion and caste.
Kharge has emphasized that the initial three phases of voting have witnessed a significant surge in support for Congress, underscoring the need for heightened diligence to prevent BJP from diverting the nation’s focus through their attempts to amplify communal concerns, thereby aiming to “fragment the economically disadvantaged based on religious and caste divisions.”
Notably, following a series of controversies sparked by remarks from party officials, Kharge has stressed the importance of exercising additional caution regarding their statements to the media. Concurrently, he has enjoined Congress representatives, particularly senior members, to abstain from addressing delicate topics, particularly pertaining to national security, where the party’s stance is already unequivocal.
Kharge’s Directive: Vigilance Amidst Political Maneuvering
In a missive conveyed by AICC general secretary K C Venugopal to state units, office-bearers, and public representatives, Kharge cautioned against the BJP’s tactics of distorting statements through contextual manipulation or technological alterations.
