Flax Seeds Laddoo Recipe

Flax seeds laddoo is a healthy and nutritious treat that combines the goodness of flax seeds, nuts, and jaggery, making it a great snack, especially for boosting energy and overall health.

Here’s a simple recipe to make flax seeds laddoo:

Ingredients:

  • Flax seeds: 1 cup
  • Jaggery (grated): 1 cup (adjust to taste)
  • Sesame seeds: 1/4 cup (optional)
  • Desiccated coconut: 1/4 cup
  • Almonds or cashews (coarsely powdered): 1/4 cup
  • Ghee (clarified butter): 2-3 tablespoons
  • Cardamom powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chopped dry fruits (optional): 1/4 cup (raisins, chopped dates, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Roast the Flax Seeds:
    • Heat a pan on medium flame, add flax seeds, and dry roast them for 3-4 minutes until they start to pop slightly and become aromatic. Set aside to cool.
  2. Roast the Sesame Seeds:
    • In the same pan, roast the sesame seeds until golden and aromatic. This step is optional but adds a nice crunch and flavor.
  3. Grind the Flax Seeds:
    • Once cooled, grind the roasted flax seeds into a coarse powder using a blender or food processor.
  4. Roast the Coconut:
    • Roast the desiccated coconut lightly in the same pan until it turns golden. Be careful not to burn it.
  5. Melt the Jaggery:
    • In a separate pan, add the grated jaggery and 1-2 tablespoons of water. Heat until the jaggery melts completely and turns into a thick syrup. Make sure it does not overcook.
  6. Mix Ingredients:
    • Add the ground flax seeds, roasted coconut, sesame seeds, powdered nuts, and cardamom powder into the jaggery syrup. Mix well to combine all ingredients evenly.
  7. Add Ghee:
    • Add 2-3 tablespoons of ghee and mix thoroughly. This will help bind the mixture together.
  8. Shape the Laddoos:
    • While the mixture is still warm, grease your palms with ghee, take small portions, and shape them into round laddoos. If the mixture is too dry, add a little more ghee or jaggery syrup.
  9. Cool and Store:
    • Let the laddoos cool completely. Store them in an airtight container; they stay fresh for up to a week.

Tips:

  • Adjust Sweetness: You can adjust the jaggery according to your preferred level of sweetness.
  • Optional Add-ins: Feel free to add other nuts or seeds like pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, or chopped dates for extra nutrition.
  • Vegan Option: Substitute ghee with coconut oil for a vegan version.
