Apple users eagerly anticipating Siri’s AI advancements may get an early New Year’s surprise. Several much-awaited Apple Intelligence features could be rolled out as early as January 2025, possibly arriving a few months before the initially projected March release.
As reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is contemplating an early rollout of several AI-driven Siri enhancements with iOS 18.3. This update is anticipated to be finalized by the end of 2024, with a possible launch in January. Though the specific features of this early release haven’t been detailed, they are expected to be integral to the larger Apple Intelligence initiative.
Gradual Rollout of Siri’s AI Enhancements with Apple Intelligence
- According to Gurman, the major AI updates are still on track for iOS 18.4, scheduled for a March release. However, Apple might advance some features to an earlier update, possibly in response to user demand and increasing competition in the AI assistant market.
- The phased introduction of Apple Intelligence started with the release of iOS 18 in September 2024. Future updates will continue to deliver new capabilities in stages.
- iOS 18.1, expected in October, will feature visual updates for Siri activation and enhanced speech recognition.
- The iOS 18.2 update, arriving in December, is set to introduce AI-generated emojis and ChatGPT integration.
- January’s iOS 18.3 update could now include some of Siri’s AI upgrades ahead of the full transformation, which is still slated for iOS 18.4 in March.
