Congress party’s national president, Mallikarjuna Kharge, commented that in Andhra Pradesh, BJP essentially refers to Babu (Chandrababu), Jagan (YS Jagan Mohan Reddy), and Pawan (Pawan Kalyan). He asserted that all the major political parties in the state, including TDP, YSRCP, and Jana Sena, are aligning with Modi and BJP. According to Kharge, the collaboration is driven by a fear of Modi and a lack of respect for the people’s will.
Kharge made these remarks while unveiling the Congress party’s ‘First Guarantee’ for Andhra Pradesh, known as the ‘Indiramma Universal Basic Income Support.’ The guarantee promises Rs 5,000 per month to every poor family, with the amount directly transferred to the bank accounts of the women in those families. Kharge emphasized that Congress guarantees differ from Modi’s and assured strict implementation.Furthermore, the Congress party reiterated its commitment to fulfill promises made to Andhra Pradesh in 2014. These commitments encompass a special package for developing the Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra regions, the construction of the Dugarajapatnam seaport, and the establishment of the Kadapa steel plant. Kharge pledged that, if the Congress comes into power, they will expedite the Polavaram project and accord it national project status, highlighting that the initiative was launched during the Congress’s governance.
This public gathering marks a significant move for the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh, especially since the appointment of YS Sharmila as the President of the state unit. Meanwhile, Sharmila, in a bold move, launched a strong critique against her brother, CM YS Jagan, signaling a new phase for the party in the state.
