This stands as the largest jackpot ever recorded in China. Delving into the details, a 28-year-old small trader from Guizhou province in Southwest China made a bold move by purchasing 133 lottery tickets at once, each costing two yuan (25 cents). Reports from local media reveal that he consistently placed bets on seven numbers within the same group, with each ticket earning a prize of approximately Rs. 6 crores. The South China Morning Post, based in Hong Kong, reported on Tuesday that a lottery in Guizhou province has yielded a whopping Rs. 795.84 crores ($680 million), according to the China Welfare Lottery website. However, the winner’s details were not disclosed by the organization. An official from the Provincial Welfare Lottery Center disclosed that the unidentified winner claimed the prize on the 7th of this month. The ecstatic winner expressed disbelief initially, stating that he had to confirm the victory multiple times to ensure its authenticity. In accordance with China’s Personal Income Tax Law, one-fifth of the prize is subject to taxation.
