Jason Momoa Joins Milly Alcock’s ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ as Villain Lobo
Jason Momoa, famous for playing Aquaman in the DC Universe, will now portray the iconic supervillain Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Deadline confirmed the news, which marks a significant change in Momoa’s DC career.
Jason Momoa has expressed his desire to play Lobo for years, even before James Gunn and Peter Safran began leading DC Studios. As a passionate comic book fan, he often shared his admiration for the character. In a recent Instagram post, he revisited an old interview where he discussed his dream role. “I collect comics, and while I don’t do so as much now, Lobo was always my favorite. I always thought, ‘Hello? This is the perfect role for me,’” he said. Celebrating the announcement, he captioned the post with a simple and excited, “They called.”
Jason Momoa previously revealed that he thought he had been cast as Lobo before Zack Snyder selected him to play Aquaman in Justice League. He admitted feeling surprised when Snyder offered him the role of the superhero instead.
Lobo, a notorious antihero from the planet Czarnia, boasts immense strength, regenerative powers, and a chaotic personality. Fans love his irreverent and violent nature, which adds a unique dynamic to the DC Universe.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, starring Milly Alcock, continues to build its cast. Matthias Schoenaerts will play the villain Krem of the Yellow Hill, and Eve Ridley will portray Ruthye Mary Knolle. Craig Gillespie, known for Cruella and I, Tonya, will direct the film. Production begins on January 13.
