Jasprit Bumrah will extend his break from the ongoing England series, skipping the next Test in Ranchi after being rested for the third Test. Whether he will return for the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala will depend on the outcome of the fourth Test, starting on February 23.
The Indian team is scheduled to depart from Rajkot on Tuesday, with Bumrah likely to travel separately. He is expected to drive to Ahmedabad on Monday, a four-hour journey from Rajkot. As of now, there is no indication of any other player resting for the next Test.
The decision to rest Bumrah is part of the team’s workload management strategy. Jasprit Bumrah, the series’ leading wicket-taker with 17 dismissals at an average of 13.64, has bowled 80.5 overs in the three matches so far. Mohammed Siraj was similarly rested for the second Test in Visakhapatnam, with Mukesh Kumar set to rejoin the squad in Ranchi after being released for a Ranji game.
