Kalki 2898 AD ₹1000 crore worldwide, mints ₹548 crore in India

The film Kalki 2898 AD directed by Nag Ashwin has received widespread acclaim for its performances and grand mythology-infused sci-fi narrative. The star-studded cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Disha Patani.

Kalki 2898 AD has achieved significant success in its first 15 days in theaters, earning an estimated ₹543.35 crore in net revenue across India.

According to Sacnilk, the movie earned approximately ₹5.25 crore net in India on its 16th day for all languages.

Ramesh Bala posted on X, “The mighty Prabhas strikes again. It has crossed $17 million gross and continues to dominate the box office. Current gross – $17,031,645. It is the first South Indian film to achieve this feat in North America (excluding Baahubali 2).”

Since its release, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has outperformed its competition, captivating fans and the film industry with its acclaimed performances. Directed by Nag Ashwin, this post-apocalyptic film draws inspiration from Hindu scriptures and is set in the futuristic year 2898 AD.

The film boasts a stellar cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Disha Patani, contributing to its grand mythology-infused sci-fi narrative. Additionally, notable cameo appearances by Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, and Mrunal Thakur add further intrigue to the cinematic experience.

Amitabh Bachchan, 81, portrayed the immortal warrior Ashwatthama in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and expressed his admiration for the project in a detailed post on his personal blog. He described the film as a “massive spectacle” and highlighted its unique blend of myth and reality, emphasizing its significance as a learning experience for filmmakers in creating such a monumental production for global audiences.

Reportedly India’s most expensive film with a budget of ₹600 crore, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ premiered worldwide on June 27 in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English. Previously known as “Project K,” the film combines elements from the Hindu epic Mahabharata with science fiction and features Saswata Chatterjee and Shobhana in pivotal roles.
