Mufasa: The Lion King Targets Rs 10 Crore Opening at Indian Box Office: Strong Advance Sales for Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu Dubs
The highly anticipated prequel Mufasa: The Lion King is set to debut strongly at the Indian box office. Early reports suggest that it will open with around Rs 10 crore net. The film has generated buzz due to its star-studded voice cast in Hindi and Telugu versions, including Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu.
Ahead of its Friday release, the film has sold around 65,000 tickets through advance bookings at major national chains in India. Of these, 35,000 are for the opening day. The Telugu version, which features Mahesh Babu’s voice, has seen particularly strong pre-sales.
In the Hindi version, Shah Rukh Khan reprises his role as Mufasa. His sons Aryan Khan and AbRam Khan also join the cast. Aryan voices Simba, while AbRam makes his debut as young Mufasa. The Hindi cast also includes Meiyang Chang as Taka, and Shreyas Talpade and Sanjay Mishra return to voice Timon and Pumbaa.
With strong advance sales and star power, Mufasa should earn between Rs 8-9 crore on its opening day. It could surpass these numbers with strong walk-in sales. If the film crosses Rs 10 crore, it will match the success of The Lion King (2019), which earned Rs 11.10 crore on its opening day and went on to gross over Rs 100 crore in India.
The film will face stiff competition from Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 at the global box office.
