Mufasa: The Lion King Box Office Collection Day 7: Shah Rukh Khan-Dubbed Film Ends Week 1 with Strong Rs 74.25 Crore
Disney’s highly anticipated prequel, Mufasa: The Lion King, wrapped up its first week at the Indian box office with a strong Rs 74.25 crore in earnings. According to data from Sacnilk.com, the film added an estimated Rs 7 crore on Day 7, with substantial contributions from its multilingual releases. The English version led the way, grossing Rs 2.5 crore on Thursday, followed closely by the Hindi-dubbed version at Rs 2.35 crore. The Tamil and Telugu versions contributed Rs 1.35 crore and Rs 80 lakh, respectively, maintaining the film’s momentum in regional markets.
The original English version of Mufasa has earned an estimated Rs 26.75 crore, making it the highest-grossing version, while the Hindi version follows with Rs 25 crore. The Tamil and Telugu versions have each earned around Rs 11.2 crore and Rs 11.3 crore, respectively. Although the total earnings of Rs 74.25 crore are strong, they still fall short of the Rs 81.57 crore collected by its predecessor, The Lion King (2019), in the same timeframe.
While Mufasa has had a solid start, it still lags behind the box office success of the 2019 live-action remake, which ultimately earned Rs 158.40 crore in India over seven weeks. Internationally, the film experienced a resurgence during the Christmas weekend. In the United States, Mufasa saw a boost, earning $14.7 million, outperforming Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which grossed $10.3 million.
Globally, Mufasa has now grossed an estimated $200 million, which matches its production budget. As the film enters its second week, it remains to be seen whether it can maintain its pace and surpass the milestones set by its predecessor to become one of the highest-grossing Hollywood films.
Currently, it trails behind Deadpool and Wolverine, which earned Rs 128.40 crore, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which grossed Rs 106.42 crore.
